I’m still on my mission (even added $40 to my bar chart, yesterday!)
The previous post, Cleaning out the Garage, was an intention for us to hold a garage sale. Unfortunately, this has been postponed for a later time (spring?). Not because of the weather, but due to a series of events that are taking place: not enough stuff for a garage sale, holiday and the passing of my brother-in-law.
Instead, I have refocused my efforts to listing items on eBay, Craigslist and the work eboards. The clothing items are being donated to the Goodwill.
I decided to keep track of my sell everything progress with an Excel Spreadsheet (another spreadhsheet??? LOL) to update as an item is listed or sold. (see below)
It is my intention to continuously have something listed at all times.
Cleaning out the kitchen cupboards is still on my to do list. But, I have been making progress by periodically throwing an item into the ‘sell’ box sitting in the garage. π
I hope everyone is having a nice time getting ready for the holidays! I want to say thank you to all my readers/blogging friends! I’ve been getting some really inspirational comments, DMs, and emails lately and it brings a great smile to my day. Thank you! π
It’s quite addicting to have things up for auction, isn’t it? Good luck with your holiday sales!
LOL. Sure is! And thanks. I just hope I can keep finding things to sell. Oh, I don’t think that will be a prob. It’s gonna be getting the husband to let go of some things. π
Wow. That is very ambitious. Have you tried consigning the clothes before you just give them to Goodwill?
Thanks! It’s some progress. Would have loved to more, but I figure as long as I keep chuggin’ along than I am doing okay. I would consign the clothes if they were name brands, but I am a simple kind of gal. Thanks for the suggestion. π
Great job! I just put a bunch of items on eBay after not having a camera since March and I am super excited! I’m back to eyeing everything as a potential sale too!
Oh, have fun with your auctions! The Lost Goat offered some great tips for selling on eBay in the comment section.
Isn’t it fun when things in your house have a price tag! *shrieks with joy* Keep us updated with your progress! Would love to hear. π
This is so wonderful. It’ll remove clutter and hopefully make you some $. Reducing clutter is definitely good for the soul. π
Thank you. I hope it makes me some money. Sometimes, I just want to give the stuff away because it’s just easier. LOL.
I do think reducing clutter is good for the soul – hence we have spring cleaning twice a year in our house. π
Hope your having a wonderful holiday season!
We just sold a motorcycle jacket and helmet on eBay (because our motorcycle was stolen), and didn’t get nearly the amount we’d hoped. It was disappointing. Oh well, it’s a tiny bit of money in our pockets, and a helmet and jacket we no longer have to store. I hope your selling is successful!
Couldn’t you have set a reserved price? I am sorry to hear about not getting enough and the motorcycle getting stolen. Oh dear!
We are selling ours so that we can get cash back but we are also getting a two seater π for about $6K less than the $25K.
I swear, sometimes motorcycles are a curse (had many issues with this custom motorcycle of ours!)
My husband takes care of the eBay sales (he has much more experience with it than I do), and after it was over he said perhaps he should have put a reserve on it. But I honestly thought these would make pretty good Christmas gifts and that we’d get more out of them than we did. Maybe it would have been better to sell in the spring, when people are thinking more about getting out on their bikes.
Still, the stuff is out of the house, and we have a little extra grocery money this pay period. And we did end up getting insurance money for the stolen bike — actually more than we paid for the bike in the first place! So I suppose it all evens out.
Uhhh your cool excel spreadsheet makes me want to sell everything! how cool is it! but good job on all that youve accomplished. π
Thanks for stopping by! It is fun to sell. I am sure it will be hard when I get down to the nitty gritty. And thank you! I hope to accomplish much more. π
I love your spreadsheeting! I have my fingers crossed that you make some good sales soon. I almost wish that any of the debt I’d paid off had been for Stuff that I could sell. Alas, just Stuff that was consumed. π
Thanks. There’s a spreadsheet for everything in my books. LOL. Oh, I know that last sentence. Actually, we have a lot of possessions, but its trying to get the other half to part with them. He’s been a trooper and it’s a great learning experience for us both.
*hopes to sell motorcycle soon*
