Okay, maybe not millions, but $40! Sweet!

My children stayed home sick today. I thought the house would be a conundrum, but instead it was the computer. Yes, my virus protection expired a while back and I had yet to renew. So, I come home today… and I got the BLUE SCREEN! Ach!!!! Daughter says ‘don’t know what happened’ and then proceeded to blame her brother. I don’t know who it was…

Anyhow, lucky me, I was able to restore the computer, but now have this nasty virus protection demo program popping repeatedly on my screen. Along with new shortcuts on my desktop, ‘win $1,200 today’. It was a gentle reminder that I needed to reinvest in McAfee.

So, the program was $89 dollars on the McAfee site with a $10 instant savings = $79.00. Filling the form out, it says ‘enter promotional code’. So, I decided to look online. Low and Behold… I found a link (to the same McAfee site) for the same program at $79.00 with an instant $30 off = $49.00!

Moral of the story: be sure to google for those online codes! πŸ˜‰
Happy me. Now I can get off the stupid crap from my computer. Ah me, glad I have a bit of good sense.

My husband is a big time computer geek. He works for the government –the public debt part. He takes care of massive computer systems that deal with the massive deficit. I tell you this to let you know that he is a person who sort of knows what he is doing with our computers.

Our whole house is networked, we have about 10 computers and one main one. Anyway, I am pretty sure we do not pay money for our computer protection software. It is called Avast. It comes up on the little corner of my computer practically eveytime I turn on the internet telling me it is finished updating.

So google AVAST and check into it before you pay…besides Mcaffee can really mess with other programs you might install.

    Hi
I always use free security & malawarebytes. They are excellent and you dont get any of the problems that come with McAfee.
Hope everyone is feeling better today.

Ha! Love the picture. I should’ve seen the coming of the economic Armageddon when the Weekly World News stopped printing. After all, it did predict the 2nd Great Depression back in 2005. Excellent job in updating your virus protection at such a good price!

So, I got the excellent price. I have never had any issues with McAfee. Used them 2 years prior. However, the program did not detect Spyware Protect 2009 (damn bugger!).

So, I tried PCTools Spyware Doctor. That did find alot more issues but still did not find Spyware Protect 2009! And it was suppose to be a reliable source.

So, I system restored to an earlier point where it I don’t get buggered with this trojan virus Spyware Protect 2009, but I am not sure that it is gone. I did research and tried to manually remove it.

However, none of the directories had the ‘specific’ files to I was looking for in my computer.

I think the Spyware Protect 2009 has outsmarted a lot of these programs. Anyway, least my computer is being monitored. I will however, call PCTools later to have them help me erradicate. Unless, you have any wonderful ideas. πŸ˜‰

My computer? 173 files infected. But, it is running much better after a couple hours of tinkering. Ach!!!
