I just love watching holiday movies. Even if I just watch them myself, it always puts me in a good wintry, holiday mood. Must-sees for December include Elf, Christmas Vacation, Love Actually, Pursuit of Happyness and The Ref.

My favorite thing about the holidays is giving homemade gifts. It’s so much fun scouring the internet looking for new and fun things I can make for my kids, my family and my husband’s coworkers for presents. It’s great being creative, frugal and festive!

It’s not politically correct, but I love shopping and finding the perfect gift! I actually love all of it, from the cookie baking to the lights, but the shopping is the part that doesn’t feel like work.

Our family allows one gift to be opened on Christmas eve.

Isn’t that funny about once a year dishes. I don’t eat jellied cranberry or leftover Turkey sandwiches with stuffing, cranberry, gravy and sourdough bread any other time of the year expect for now. I don’t make Russian Tea cakes or Sugar cookies except for Christmas. I don’t understand why I don’t, but I think that may be it… It would be weird to eat it when it’s not Christmas.

Our local stations have already started with the music. I like to sneak it in here and there, but sometimes feel guilty because I haven’t celebrated Thanksgiving. I feel like I am cheating it! LOL.

I love Christmas for all those reasons, too. Although, we don’t tend to hit Black Friday. There is only one deal I’ve seen that I may try my luck at. Have a wonderful time shopping!

I’m going to be honest and say my favorite part is the presents!!! I love opening my gifts as early as possible on Christmas eve

We have certain dishes we only make at Christmastime, so I enjoy those a lot… there’s a certain dip my mom makes that sits in the oven for 2 hours, and when it comes out, we all dive in hungrily. It would be weird to eat it when it’s not Christmas!

The holidays for me just give me a warm feeling. I love playing Christmas music from Thanksgiving through Christmas. Our family tradition has to be with family on Black Friday and spend the day prowling the mall for the best gifts possible. I also love Christmas Eve with my Mom. We would bake cookies and try new recipes followed by a fire burning in the fireplace at night roasting marshmallows. Christmas was when the whole family came together.

My mom passed away when I was 15 right before Christmas so for the longest time, I didn’t really care for the holidays. I was a modern day Grinch. My real turning point was when I started dating Rambo and he insisted that I was going to have a good Christmas. And you know what? I did. My favorite holiday tradition is now flying across country to go see his family and play in the snow. And if for some reason things don’t work out between us and we should grow apart, I’ll always be grateful for having this holiday tradition with him.
