1000 Snickerdoodles!

Well, perhaps not a thousand, but the recipe produced a bunch!

ps – everyone at work loved them!

Snickerdoodles are the forever cure to when your feeling blue or need something sweet to satisfy a craving. It is the forever good recipe. And straight from Better Homes and Gardens (circa 1981 cookbook…it’s a pass-me-down from my mom).

3 3/4 cups AP flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon cream of tarter
1 cup butter or margarine
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
1/4 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Preheat oven 375 degrees

1. Grease a cookie sheet. Stir together flour, soda, cream of tartar, and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Beat butter for 30 seconds; add the 2 cups sugar and beat till fluffy. Add eggs, milk, and vanilla; beat well.

2. Add dry ingredients to beaten mixture, beating till well blended.

3. Form dough into 1-inch balls; roll in a mixture of the 3 tablespoons of sugar and the cinnamon. Place balls 2 inches apart on a cookie sheet; flatten slightly with the bottom of a drinking glass.

4. Bake in a 375 degree oven about 8 minutes or till light golden.

Yield: 66! Yummy delicious cookies! Enjoy!

My son loves snickerdoddles. He is Gluten free and Casein free so I need to buy them special. But if I can copy your recipe with some substitutions maybe I can make them myself.

Jude: did you end up making these again? To me, its always a gold medal cookie. 😉

Budget Mama, I hope that you can find a way to make them to your sons needs. A fresh baked cookie is always devine. Feel free to copy the recipe. Its from Better Homes & Garden (the red and white cookbook that is common to many households). Let me know how they turn out!
